How To Save Money Buying Second Hand Sports Equipment

The popularity of sport is now absolutely massive. There is much greater coverage of sport on TV, more participants, vastly increased sport choice and a whole heap more money in the industry. Sadly, that money doesn’t really filter down to the grass roots level and so we often have to buy our own equipment and accessories if we want to practice or even compete. Couple this with the increasing costs of new gear due to more advanced technologies and science influences, and you might begin to feel that the best stuff is out of your price range. However, if you can consider buying used gear, rather than always new, there are plenty of bargains to be had.

A second hand mountain bike is sure enough one of those items that you can get a really good deal on. Due to the fact bike riding is so popular, their are literally thousands to choice from and the second hand marketing is saturated, meaning low prices. This also allows you to easily find spare parts if you need them since there are so many to choice from. Avoid buying a cheap brand bike as they are not built to last but higher quality makes will do you well for many more years to come.

If you’re into surfing then getting a few second hand surboards is a must. You’ll naturally find the best deals around costal areas where there is plenty of supply and shops often have a good range of them as well. Now so more than ever, surfers own several different boards for different conditions and getting some second hand ones is an easy way to add to your collection. Also, you don’t have to worry so much about damaging them so you can use them to try out new moves or surfing locations. Don't go anywhere near surfboards that have serious wounds and show signs that they have suffered water damage, despite if they have been repaired.

second hand kayaks are a more sturdy beast altogether. You can frequently pick up high quality second hand ones as they really are not that easy to do any lasting damage to. Make sure you get a full run-down of the boats history when making a purchase and steer clear of holes, even if they are quite inconspicuous. Holes will likely lead to further damage down the line and even if repaired are not worth risking
